Colorado Cattle

Colorado Beef Production

Today, there are more than 2.6 million head of cattle and 13,000 beef producers throughout Colorado. Colorado ranks 10th in overall cattle numbers nationwide.

Nearly one-third of Colorado's counties are classified as either economically dependent on the cattle industry or having the cattle industry serve an important role in their economies. Cash receipts from the sale of cattle and calves at $2.5 billion represents over half of the gross farm income of $4.9 billion -- Colorado's largest industry.

Industry Beef Quality Assurance

Colorado Beef Quality AssuranceDesigned by Colorado beef industry leaders, the Colorado BQA Council understands the expectation set forward by the consumer and strives to bring those requirements into line with the program and present them to producers in a functional manner. This program is for the producers by the producers.

The goal of the program is to assist producers in providing a product to all consumers that is safe, consistent and wholesome. By doing so, we can maximize consumer confidence in our product.
