Meet the Gosses

Located near Merino in Northeastern Colorado, Little Creek Cattle is a family-run operation where Mike and Tamie work alongside their five children to raise Black Angus cattle and market natural beef directly to consumers. Over the past decade, what began as a passion for agriculture has grown into lasting relationships with customers who want to know more about where their food comes from and the people who raise it. 

At the heart of Little Creek Cattle is a simple philosophy: produce wholesome beef while making the most of the resources around them. 

Throughout the year, the Goss family works with the natural cycles of the land. During the summer months, their cattle graze native grasslands and irrigated pastures where cows raise their calves. In the winter, the herd moves onto local farm ground to utilize crop residues such as corn stalks, wheat stubble, and hayfields. This approach not only provides valuable forage for the cattle but also benefits the land by recycling nutrients and making use of resources that might otherwise go unused. 

The family also works closely with neighboring farmers, sourcing feed locally whenever possible. By utilizing Colorado-grown feedstuffs—including sugar beet pulp and distillers grains, two byproducts from local sugar and ethanol production—they help support the regional economy while reducing waste. 

For the Goss family, sustainability starts with using every resource wisely. 

They often describe cattle as nature's recyclers. Animals that can convert grasses, crop residues, and agricultural byproducts into a nutrient-rich source of protein for families across Colorado and beyond. That same attention to detail carries through to the beef they sell. Their cattle are grass-fed and corn-finished, producing beef that is carefully dry-aged for 18 to 21 days to enhance tenderness and flavor. Customers can purchase individual cuts or larger portions, with processing customized to meet each family's needs. 

But perhaps what sets Little Creek Cattle apart most is their commitment to connecting with consumers. Whether visiting with customers at farmers markets, answering questions about agriculture, or sharing the realities of ranch life, the Goss family sees every interaction as an opportunity to build trust and strengthen the connection between rural and urban communities. 

For more than 10 years, they've done just that—providing beef for local families while helping put a face to Colorado agriculture. 

As the next generation grows up on the ranch, Mike and Tamie are passing along the same values that guide their operation today: hard work, stewardship, community, and pride in producing food for others.
